What do a Chicago strip club and the Presidents campaign fund have in common? BOTH were paid with public funds as VENDORS to the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago approved checks to both The Admiral Theatre Inc, a Chicago strip club, and Obama For America, the presidents campaign organization. According to data received, both share the same vendor code. Yet, neither organization exists in Chicagos current transparency portal. The Admiral Theatre strip club received $5,197.78 in City of Chicago checks. Sixteen checks range from $1.20 to $1,900. A buck twenty? Obama received $1,000. Surely, the City will have some sort of explanation. Because, public funds used for campaign purposes violates federal and state law. And, we know that no Illinois or city worker would ever violate those laws, right? You can search for yourself at www.openthebooks.com
Standard accounting programs classify anyone who does business with a local government as a vendor even if they are only paying for materials like voting lists, precinct maps, and copies of public documents.
But the city is paying the Obama campaign, not the other way around. They used a strip club’s code as a work around.
ROFLMAO - POST OF THE DAY !!!!
It is worth looking into, but checks sometimes get written from public agencies to political campaigns as deposit returns or reimbursement for excess event payments. Using the code for a strip club could be due to an error or someone having a bit of fun.
