The “Top Gear” guys seem to like it.
2 door Fiesta ST with a 1 litre EcoBoost is coming with insane horsepower...
It will eat the Arabath's sorry little ass for lunch....
A Mercedes dealer had a used one that I checked out. It is tiny and even the Abarth (manual only) isn’t speedy, and mpg is around 30 - not good for something so small.
The exterior, despite the claims of the paid shills in auto mags, isn’t really great; it can be mistaken for a Yaris sedan. In photos it looks cuter than in person. The front seats are actually quite roomy, and will accommodate a taller person than it looks like it ought. And the dash is so girlishly cute and retro it puts a smile on your face.
It’s a toy, not a commuter. Used ones will show up fast.
“And Im one of a very small number of Americans to have owned two Fiats.”
Was one for parts?
My only experience with them was with the rather cute X1/9 (sp) in the early 80’s. My boss bought it for his wife. It didn’t make it through two Chicago winters without massive, uncontrollable, structural rust.

With the money I spent fixing it, I could have bought two Fiats.
I bought a new Alfa Romeo Milano Verde in 1988
It was bad i fought with the dealer for months.....Miam
Sexy....quick...but junk
Nearest worst cars.....Range Rovers
I would fear anything Italian car wise
Take the car....leave the Bellucci....the latter is something Italy makes the best......gorgeous women who love being women
The two leading Axis partners make the best cars....
Be happy drive Nazi or Imperial Jap
Plenty of Fiats 500s here in Europe. ²Fix It Again Tony². Another nice little car is the CHEVY Spark. Guess we will never get to see them in the states.
PJ ORourke said the cheapest way to keep a Fiat on the road was to adopt a mechanic.
Fiat: Fix It Again Tony.
#18 - now that sir, is an A+ drinking story - lol!
Too much hype and “glamour” around the “new” Fiats. I remeber the cinquecento of the 60s/70s - real piece of crap with a 500 cc motoprcycle engine and toothed rubber grommets at the end of the axles to drive the wheels - kept from breaking expensive parts of one popped the clutch too much. I would give it a year or three to settle in to the point where there is a track record before even considering a test drive - perhaps the hype is part of the deal to try to salvage a miniscule part of the Itlalian economy. My mind keeps hearing Yugo commercials and seeing the things fall apart from under the “proud” new owners.
The Chevy Spark is scheduled for US sale beginning this summer, last I heard, with an electric version next year.
It seems to actually be a Daewoo Matiz. American versions likely built in Mexico.
