If you havent caught it yet on social media outlets, were here to share some sad news in the Ford Mustang world, everyone. As the headline states, weve lost Carroll Shelby from this land and hes no doubt headed to the 1320′ strip in the clouds for the hereafter. Shelby passed away at age 89 yesterday, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. As of this point, we know he was not doing well health-wise, but the official terminal cause has not been released.
The automotive magnate of all things Mustang, and other Detroit muscle, will be sorely missed as one of the legends one of the greats one who shaped the automotive industry AND aftermarket then, now, and the future.
Hats off from StangNet, Carroll Shelby. Your presence will be sorely missed by many.

The changes to the rear fenders in 2010 and the new engines in 2011 have made the Mustang a contender.
Looked at a Camaro, but I felt like I was sitting in a bucket. Being “tall waisted” and 6'3” didn't work for me. Either I was too tall or the Roof was too short. Then there was that little Government Motors issue.
The TVR I remember was in about 1970 or 71. I think it had a fiberglass body.
Something about it said, “bust me.”
I almost bought a 1969 Shelby GT 350 “H”. My Dad's “buddy” had one that I agreed to buy back in 1974 for $2000. I told him I would come by the next morning after going to the Bank to get the cash. I worked the Midnight Shift at the time.
When I called him the next morning to let him know I was on my way, he told me he sold it the night before because the guy had the cash in hand. Still pisses me off to this day.
Freepmail "Lazlo in PA" to be added or removed.
Misspent youth, young adulthood and now middle age. Still dream’n of that beast. Just sumpt’n about it.
Global respect, admiration and affection. I'd say Carroll did okay. :-)

Heard about this earlier this evening. RIP Mr. Shelby.
Next week, at this time, i am enrolled at Mott Community College for a three day build of a Factory Five Racing Cobra Roadster.
It is designed to help you build one when you buy a “Kit”.
I am not going to build a roadster. However, I am going to get the up-graded 65 Shelby Daytona Coupe.
It’s one bad “Mo-Fo”.
R.I.P Carroll Shelby.
You chicken rancher, you.
Sarc/off.
Wow; just wow. What a machine. Thanks for the pic, D.
I did not realize how big the new Challengers actually are until I parked the ‘68 Mustang right next to one of them the other day.
pretty close, but the loss of the chrome is evident.
This post is worthless without pictures. We are holding you to it buddy!
The new camaro is about 6 inched taller at the shoulder.
From a Bill Cosby album that was popular with the guys in Vietnam about Bill’s meeting and having a car built by Carroll Shelby;

From the article a nomination for comment of the year;
“Ironic that a lifelong car man would die in a motorboating accident.”
The ultimate Dodge Omni was the Carroll Shelby-modified Omni GLH. The original name, “Coyote”, was rejected, and Shelby’s choice, the initials GLH, which stood for “Goes Like Hell”, were taken instead.[2] 1984 was the first year of the GLH, which carried over most of the modifications that had been made the previous year to the Shelby Charger. 1985 was the debut of the real GLH model with the turbocharged engine option. This engine, at low boost (7.2 PSi) coupled with the car’s very low weight (as low as 2,200 lb (1,000 kg)), earned this car its name. The car carried over into 1986 unchanged aside from the addition of a hatch-mounted third tail light, and production was stopped. The final 500 GLH cars were sold to Shelby, who used them as the basis for the 1986 Shelby GLHS (”Goes Like Hell Sm’more”). These cars were modified by Carroll and sold as Shelbys. With 175 horsepower (130 kW) and 175 lb·ft (237 N·m). of torque, the Shelby modified 2.2 raised boost to 12 psi (0.83 bar) with a larger turbocharger and added a front-mounted intercooler. 205/50R15 Eagle GT Gatorbacks mounted on Shelby Centurian wheels, Koni adjustable struts and shocks and 1” shorter rear springs rounded out the performance modifications.
“I have a 67 Camaro and think it looks so much better than the new re-creation.”
GM was distracted by and gave priority for their Volt, to show what they could really do if they tried.
