Word For The Day, Tuesday, May 8, 2012
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
sudorific [soo-duh-rif-ik]
-adj
1. causing sweat; diaphoretic.
2. sudoriparous
-n
3. a sudorific agent
[162030; < Neo-Latin sūdōrificus, equivalent to Latin sūdōr-, stem of sūdor sweat ( see sudoriferous) + -i- -i- + -ficus -fic ]
It is time.
Sudorific sounds odorific! In any case, that reminds me of the Won. Michelle says that he all “smelly and snorey” when he awakes in the morning and the girls don’t like to be around him. So, we can saay that in the morning, Obama is sudorific until he hits the shower.
Menopause causes women to be sudorific. Luckily i am not there yet.
Most menopause while xsexmommy walks by.
Then they stop, turn around, and look again.
(It’s her psuedorific posture ya know.)
Oh rats, I was saving this word for Thursday.
I imagine Rafiki was pretty sudorific when he made that pronouncement. He’s a baboon, and all, and I don’t think they shower.
OMG did she really say that?
she did and the olefactory images it conjures up are horrific.
i guess smells can’t be images, but you know what i mean.
Sorry.
Our pseud-horrific bungler,
Der Reader, in chief,
Has begun to sudorifically,
Sweat even the small stuff.
He used to have a worry, about the size of ears,
And now we tend to mock the things he fears.
He cannot vote just present,
From his vacation lounge,
His words get heard though dissonance,
Attends the meaning-scrounge.
He cannot forge a forum,
Among his ardent fans,
Assembling but a quorum,
Within great bleacher stands.
Where once they gasped and fainted,
Now they merely yawn,
And now the twilight of his reign,
Becomes our bright new dawn.
.
“It is time,” indeed.
How disgusting and low class to say something like that about your husband, and even worse when he is the leader of the free world! Could they disgust me any more?
I haven’t thought about Rafiki in a long time. when my daughter was smaller, we used to watch Timon & Pumbaa cartoons as a bedtime ritual. They were pretty good.
Boo hoo! Mayrice Sendak died. Author of Where the Wild Things Are. Illustrated Little Bear, too.My now teenage son used to love Little Bear.
Last Night I watched the sudorific movie “Downfall”.
And yes..it DID make me sweat!
I guess we’ll be flying Air Commando in the future.
A sudden sudsing will solve sudorific situations...
