In another thread I had proposed the idea of doing another Dans Bake Sale in downtown Tampa during the Convention.
Fellow FReeper "Patton@Bastogne" has expounded in several threads on what could happen once the Tea Party makes its stand....
Imagine...80,000 Tea Party faithful, non violently filling the streets until they are heard.
The purpose/result may or may not be to overthrow the nomination process, but at least they could help ensure Conservatism in represented in the Party Platform...with a stern and visible reminder that Tea Partiers will be elected nationwide (all the way down the ballot) to hold the GOP nominee accountable for their actions.
The concept of "Conservatism's Last Stand" is starting to catch on.
If you feel like taking part, but fear that this is a fading idea, take a look at the responses this concept has been generating (all of these can be found on the link indicated above):
I reside in the Tampa area ... only 15 minutes away from the Innisbrook Resort where the Florida GOP Delegation will be staying ...

I havent even heard of any protests scheduled for Tampa, much less talk of a contested convention. Is everyone just going to bend over and take Romney?

We can all dream our hopeful dreams and I like to do that. But your post is flat-out correct and tells succinctly why it would take an insurrection in Tampa to bring about such a scenario. GOPe aint gonna cooperate with us.

Sounds good to me!! That being said, put me on the list to show up in Tampa. I am on the Space Coast and would love to get together with other patriots.

I had a call today from an RNC fund raiser. I read him the riot act about Romney, McCain, Dole, Romney some more and rinos in general. Then went on to the disdain displayed towards the base and conservative candidates. Then the lack of testicular fortitude on the part of the GOP-E. Then made him promise to pass all that on to the upper levels of the RNC. I was in his ear for a good five minutes.

Well, Sarah and the rest sure surprised DC with TEA in Nov 10... RATS and RINOS honestly didnt believe it could happen, even though they saw it coming. Is there any reason to believe the people who made Nov 10 happen have any less motivation to do something even bigger this November, when the stakes are 20X higher?

May it be so. That would be a more wonderful outcome for the future of America than many of us can (or even dare to) imagine. Im sure that I would break right down and bawl like a baby, if this truly transpired.

your post is flat-out correct and tells succinctly why it would take an insurrection in Tampa to bring about such a scenario. I really think we need to have one. If only one in ten patriotic conservatives managed to get themselves to the convention in Tampa, the sheer force of their presence and numbers could force the gathering to choose another nominee. I honestly feel that that is our last and only chance to have a voice in this process.

In my opinion, patriotic Americans have one last chance to force the turncoat cowards in the GOP to bend to the will of The People, and that is to mount a protest of historic proportions at the convention in Tampa. Ive decided, that come hell or high water, Im going to be there, demanding that the convention delegates end this travesty, and choose a real conservative as our nominee. This country is about to cross a Rubicon of sorts. If the process goes forward, and we come to the choice of either Romney or Obama in the general, the die will have been cast, and we will enter a new era of top-down, government imposed Socialism, that cannot be stopped with anything less than a full-scale rebellion. I urge every person who understands the gravity of the situation, to get to Tampa and register your vocal opposition to the great travesty about to be committed against us. It might well be your last opportunity to do so in a civil manner.

Saving-The-Republic Ping!
My TEA party rebellion is writing in Sarah Palin for POTUS.
Except Santorum .. I think he was in the running and growing his numbers .. but then he dropped.
80,000 people is large and strong, but we would be seen as a bunch of Terry Schiavo nuts ... imo.
Well I am voting Virgil Goode. He is my protest vote.
If 10,000 show up there will be more of US on the outside than “them” on the inside!
Whatever it takes.
I know many have by now accepted Romney’s nomination as a done deal, but I think we owe it to the GOP to make our feelings known to the delegates in Tampa. Then, if the delegates proceed to nominate Romney anyway, then they will have nothing to complain about when many of us refuse to support him in November. I don’t want anyone to be angry when Romney loses because it will be important for the party to reunite after the election.
I would drive to Florida for that!http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/post#help

Good grief! Seems like a lot of my posts are posting twice, and I never copied that web address in there.
Not yet. I need a haircut, I have to go grocery shopping, and I desperately need sneakers.
Do it.
Love this idea!
Santorum dropped out due to the media shutting down fundraising. After all, you can’t raise funds with the media mantra about inevitability.
In fact, the media constantly spoke of Mitt Romney crushing all competition when it was completely false. Mitt Romney was squeaking out 1, 2, and 3 percent wins in places he should have been getting double digit wins. Michigan was a delegate tie until the powers that be changed the rules AFTER the vote.
Its like the Obama Chicago machine is running the whole show.
I would love to write-in Sarah Palin, but we have touch-screen voting. Voting Romney would be inappropriate touching.
Could I use some `white-out’ on the screen? I’ll just vote down ticket for conservatives.
Looking forward to seeing “Smilin’ Dick” Lugar voted out—crossing fingers, toes, eyes. But I don’t want to attract attention from the poll-ghouls. My stock response to them is: “I’m voting against anyone who thinks I’m so wishy-washy they think they can sway me right outside the polling station.” It’s like holding up a cross to a vampire. There are some local Demo-hacks I hope to give `walking papers’ to as well. Interesting to see if the Demoncrats take Lugar up on his pathetic plea for help: “Save me from my own party!”
Taxed Enough Already: Let’s party!
Santorum is just another big government lib.
It’s not a problem at all if people unite behind Palin and write her in.
