Lol, the National Park Service apparently doesn't know how to grow trees even when it is critical, but they have proven by the millions they know hot to kill them.

That fits. It died a "Natural" death.

I think the National Christmas Trees are donated by private individuals, but the US Park Service “supervises” digging, transport and installation. That was the problem, I’d bet.
