Per Yemen being raised as an issue today by Gingrich: would Romney send Seal team(s) into Yemen?

During Gingrich's speech today on the day of his suspension of his campaign, Gingrich raised and interesting issue about Yemen - saying that it, not Afghanistan, was the center of Al Qaeda.

According to some sources, the U.S. is supposedly conducting drone attacks in Yemen against Al Qaeda. But...

Would Romney favor sending in Seal team(s) into Yemen (or any other country for that matter in the ME, ally or not) to target high-value terrorists targets?

If so, why did Romney say on Aug 1, 2007 the following:

"I do not concur in the words of Barack Obama in a plan to enter an ally [Pakistan] of ours... I don't think those kinds of comments help in this effort to draw more friends to our effort."

This was in response to Obama saying:

"If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."

Romney further said that this comment from Obama was "ill-timed" and "ill-considered" and that we need to foster unity with our allies in contrast to Obama's statement.

As a side note, after Gingrich spoke: on the Fox Report with Shepard Smith today at 3-4P.M ET, Shepard Smith, Ed Rollins and Carl Cameron seemed just wee bit peeved with Gingrich...

Isn’t Rollins with the Romney camp?

I’m not sure what Romney’s point really was back in 2007. However, IMO, Obozo’s comment was ill-timed and ill-conceived in that the U.S. should NEVER give away to our enemies what actions we will or might take during a time of war, at least not through a public statement.

SEAL teams. Get it right.

And no, he wouldn't unless they had never drank coffee or Coke
or tea or any iced beverage and agreed that he was a God-In-Becoming.

Plus, the magic underpants should be consulted.. but not in all cases.

Would the SEALs wear them? That's the question.

Would you trust those drawers in a combat situation?

Romney clarified his statement shortly after making it and indicated he would most certainly make the order to take out Bin Laden.

Back then even Hillary Clinton ridiculed Obama's statement regarding Pakistan at first.

Today, Newt bowed out of the race and in so doing, this was the report:

ARLINGTON, Va. — Newt Gingrich, the colorful former House speaker and fiery partisan, formally exited the Republican presidential contest Wednesday and vowed to help Mitt Romney’s bid to defeat President Barack Obama.

Ending a campaign that seesawed between implosion and frontrunner and back again, Gingrich threw his support to his one-time rival as expected and promised his supporters he would continue to push conservative ideas. Gingrich bowed out of the race more than $4 million in debt.

“Today, I am suspending the campaign. But suspending the campaign does not mean suspending citizenship,” Gingrich told a ballroom in a suburban Washington hotel.

“We are now going to put down the role of candidate and candidate’s spouse and take back the role of active citizens,” he said, adding he would continue to promote conservative ideas on college campuses, as well as through newsletters and films.

He also urged conservatives to rally behind Romney as a better alternative than Obama.

“This is not a choice between Mitt Romney and Ronald Reagan. This is a choice between Mitt Romney and the most radical, leftist president in American history,” Gingrich said.

Uh oh. I have offended the capitalized letters police...

Stick with the main purpose of this thread, and not inject into this thread Red Herrings and other logically fallacious diversionary tactics.

In the end, we know that were two large rooms side by side, with one filled with center-left voters and moderates and the other room filled with conservatives/Tea Partiers, Romney would speak to one group, telling them what they wanted to hear.

And then he would exit to speak to the next group - telling what they wanted to hear - even on the same day if need be.

Well said.

Advertsising your intentions beforehand, whether about whom you will attack, where...or when you plan to add or withdraw troops...gives the enemy an advantage they do not deserve, and that can and will endanger US personnel.

I thought Reomney's best reply was that, "Even Jimmy Carter would have made this order."

You use an awful lot of words trying to cover up the fact that you don’t know what SEALs are or how to write it.

Play on, Player.

Romney's point was to do what he always does: say one thing and then flip-flop on it later. Free Republic is full of threads chronicling the plethora of flip-flops from Romney.

Rino Romney hedges his bets and then pivots later. That is his MO.

Apparently making those comments public didn't save Bin Laden’s hide, BTW.

Play on yourself, Romney bot.

Jim Robinson said that pro-Romney people were not welcome at FR.

Remember that.

Play on yourself, Romney bot.

Play with yourself, name-calling smacktard.

I've been an anti-Mormon bigot since before you ever heard of FR.

That kind of excuses me from being a "Romney bot".

If you feel that my pointing out your obvious failures in writing
makes me a "Romney bot" then I reckon there are a lot of "Romney bots"
in your future because you write like a retard. And I hope folks point it out.

Because you are having a piece of the stupid.

He's right...in fact throughout Obamas speech tin Aphganistan he consistantly refered to L-Queda when in fact the soldiers he was speeking to are fighting the Taliban.

Makes ya wonder truly what the troops thought.

Obama doesn't know what he's doing except campaigning...and like politicians compaigning they rarely know the facts. Obama's never left campaign mode...he can't...doesn't know how to be a President.

I watched him speak to the troops...only he wasn't speaking to them..it indeed was a campaign speech...and i was stunned when he so arrogantly told the troops he'd be speaking to us later, as if they should be privledged to be in his company....they all knew anyway this was nothing about them...but saing that just rubbed salt into the wounds...what a complete jerk he is.

Even if you would do it, it doesn’t follow that you want to say you would before hand. Both Obama and Romney were wrong to announce what they would do ahead of time. Moreover circumstances change. Nobody knew at that time that Pakistan had been actively hiding Osama for years.

He did NOT say that at all...go to C-span and listen yourself Jeff....he did not tell conservatives to Rally behind Romney...the article is taking that out of context as usual.

Furthermore he did not Endorse Romney at all.

Well, there are several distinctions. As for the Taliban[Afghanistan], in general they still haven't been placed on the terrorist watch list and are still being courted by the Afghan gov't. Sure, there are strains of them in Pakistan, but not the Taliban as represented in Afghanistan.

Also, the media is not covering the fact that the US and Afghanistan just agreed to having troops in Afghanistan until at least 2024. Joy.

SEAL teams. Get it right.

Considering they were not named after seals and their name is actually an acronym, technically it is SeAL, or SeaAL if you prefer.

Doubtful if there is a mormon mission to Yemen.

Bridges of faith between mormons and muslims
