My son’s pediatrician calls it juvenile diabetes and type 1.

They use both. In fact she specializes in kids with diabetes.

If your son’d doc is a pediatrician she is most definitely NOT an endocrinologist those are the specialists in the area. Yes I agree some docs do still use the term but it is not accurate and fell out of favor long ago whih is why you hear the terms Type 1 and insulin dependent.

But I think we strain mightily at a gnat’s eyelash.

Those with diabetes who need to take insulin shots to balance their sugars have challenges but they can lead full and wonderful lives.
