Word For The Day, Monday, 4/30/12
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Bemuse;transitive verb CLICK THE WORD FOR PRONUNCIATION
: to make confused : puzzle, bewilder 2: to occupy the attention of : distract, absorb 3: to cause to have feelings of wry or tolerant amusement be·mus·ed·ly \-ˈmyü-zəd-lē\ adverb be·muse·ment \-ˈmyüz-mənt\ noun
Etymology: "to make utterly confused," from be- + muse (cf. amuse), attested from 1735 but probably older, as Pope (1705) punned on it as "devoted utterly to the Muses."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
A liberal chick started replying to me on Twitter about HC..she actually believes that the company who provides insurance pays none of the cost and should have no say in the benefits offered. Clueless.
Just spent an hour or so at the local garage getting my studded snow tires off for the summer. Kept trying to edge out, but the owner kept up running complaints about Obama, then is office girl started piping in. He can’t believe the guy has a shot at reelection. There’s two votes he will never get. And she is a young 20 something.
Woodstock?
I’m guessing you’ve not heard the song?
sounds like it was written YESTERDAY.
Woodstock?
I’m guessing you’ve not heard the song in a while...?
sounds like it was written YESTERDAY.
Here you go Darling.
Woodstock.
Gee Whiz.
point is you were surprised it was gold back then, there was a huge market for that sort of music then too.
Do you follow Jim Treacher? @jtLOL ? He’s at it again posting pics of his dog...your kinda dog.
i will look, i hadn’t been following him but have seen retweets. What was the p!$$ing match about between him and Jpod?
Who is @jpod? @jtLOL got going the other night over @jpodhoretz saying the “dog eating” story was manufactured. Jim Treacher is pretty funny. I thought it was a great story to counter Seamus. Funnier, too. Made for a lot of fun on Twitter.
Jim Treacher, aka @jtLOL, broke the story on Obama’s eating dog. He did it on his website and Twitter. I was online when he did it...too funny. It took off immediately.
Jpod is Jon Podhoretz in slang. like JLO, KStew, RobPATS, get with the lingo Ti ; )
there is a closed Twitter account for @jpod was just wondering.
that is funny.
Yes. Twitter has been a blast lately. All dog eat dog. Looks like we have a new hashtag to take over #forward.
No. He and I speak. He is not @jpod. he is @jpodhoretz.

Much as I hate to say it, I think the majority of young people are unemployed because they deserve to be-it is bound to be painfully obvious to any employer that their choices from among the young are mostly limited to clueless, shallow and uninformed individuals who don’t know the meaning of the words “creative” and “initiative”...
Good old Sweaty Teddy.
What BS that anyone took his line about being dead or in jail as a threat, when it was clear he was alluding to himself being on either the red list or the blue list.
Among the tricks and sleight-of-hand
From which the ‘rats pick and choose
Is the time honored bait-and-switch
To distract, misdirect and bemuse
Look over here and not over there-
There’s nothing to see-move along
Just go watch some reality show
And don’t look at what is wrong
Michelle Antoinette and Louie Obama
Are dining on lobster and caviar
On your dime almost every time-
Eat your hot dog-see how lucky you are?
I like that bumper sticker! There was actually one little business out here whose owner was very vocal about liking/voting for Obama in spite of the fact that we’re starving out here thanks to gas prices, and continued to preach it all this last winter and early spring to every local customer-until we all stopped going there. That business closed last month-I try not to gloat when I drive by the empty store-the owner is really an otherwise nice person...
Love the tag line.
I agree - and sadly, so many of those kids are from a background of Mommy and Daddy paying for everything anyway so being jobless isn’t a hardship on them, just a long “summer vacation”
