A big difference from being into model railroading, which some people even think is goofy too, but is far more respected.
It takes some skills to do model anything.

I'd be first in line to point and laugh. There is no reason someone who comes out in public in ridiculous attire shouldn't expect to be ridiculed.
I have trouble enough holding my tongue when I see people wearing pajama bottoms instead of pants at the grocery store!
