Jarret Stoll beat Cory Schneider with a wrist shot at 4:27 of overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 victory over Vancouver on Sunday night, knocking out the top-seeded Canucks in five games in the Western Conference first-round series.
Stoll scored from the left wing after a turnover at Vancouver blue line. The forward skated in on a 2-on-1, but took the shot himself, picking the top-left corner above Schneider's blocker.
Brad Richardson tied it for Los Angeles at 3:21 of the third period, and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves.
Henrik Sedin opened the scoring for Vancouver with a power-play goal in the first period.
Schneider made 35 saves in his third straight start after Roberto Luongo lost the first two games.
The Kings will play the second-seeded St. Louis Blues in the second round.
The Canucks dropped out in the first round after leading the NHL in regular-season points for the second straight year. Last season, they lost to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

I remember how the city of Vancouver reacted to their playoff loss last year. Let’s hope the animals can control themselves better this time.
Nucks’ fan here. Everyone’s bummed but hats off to the Kings. I was there 2 years ago at Staples when the Canucks eliminated the Kings in game 7. I was also a wee kid back in 1994 in Vancouver. I asked my family why they were rioting, and my uncles said they’re stupid.
Effing Sedin sisters got annihilated by Dustin Brown.
But guess what, they’re rioting again. http://www.teamradio.ca/ It’s the only game in town.
You guys are rioting because you expect to win because your team has won it all before and anything less is a disappointment.
It’s not like that for Kings fans, we have only been to the finals once and lost and honestly don’t expect to win it.
I am a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and owner and expect them to win the Super Bowl every year and when they don’t I am depressed for a month. Maybe rioting will help me get over my Depression faster. haha
Rioting in 3....2.....1.
Now I’m really upset the Stars didn’t get in, they were playing so well there for awhile, and then it all fell apart at the end.
I’m in L.A. and part-owner of a production studio company and not in Couver’. ;) I have been a Kings fan since Gretzky but I am not going to throw away my childhood team the Canucks. That’s like my bud who works in Manhattan and a Sox fan so he’s supposed to jump the local bandwagon and supports the yanks? snicker Again, hats off to the Kings but the only team in the West Conf that I see as a dark horse is Nashville then L.A.
I’m rooting for the Blues....we still love Hitch here in Dallas.
I love the Blues’ and yeah, Hitchcock made a miracle run with the Stars. My money was on San Jose but that surprised me big time when they were ousted. Langenbrunner plays lights out.
Longtime KINGS season-ticketholder here.
Just happy to be in the playoffs for a change...
As a Sharks fan I was dissapointed but not suprised at the
elimination Saturday. Blues were stiflinng attempts to get
through the neutral zone and pretty much outplayed and outhustled the Sharks, keeping their feet moving and
Elliott stopping several excellent chances. Ken H has done a fine job, I like their chances against the Kings in the semis.
