Actually, you Romneybots are telling lies.

We do know the truth, from the original story in the Boston Globe.

** “The white Chevy station wagon with the wood paneling was overstuffed with suitcases, supplies, and sons when Mitt Romney climbed behind the wheel to begin the annual 12-hour family trek from Boston to Ontario.”
(snip)
As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ‘’Dad!’’ he yelled. ‘’Gross!’’ A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who’d been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management.” And it offered his sons a rare unplanned stop.

‘’Think about it,’’ Tagg says, ‘’a 12-hour drive and the only time we stop is to get gas. When we stop, you can buy your food and go to the bathroom, but that’s the only time we’re stopping, so you’d better get it all done at once.’’ Yet there was one exception to Mitt’s nonstop policy. ‘’As soon as my mom says, ‘I think I need to go to the bathroom,’ he pulls over instantly, and doesn’t complain. ‘Anything for you, Ann.’.’’

Tagg didn’t get it back then, but now at age 37 he finally understands why his father has been willing to suspend his regimented ways when it comes to his wife.”

Picture this Summer 1941 a family of five,Dad Mom and 3 boys 9,6 and 4, in a 1933 Ford 2dr sedan. They traveled from Miami to, Tuscumbia, Alabama a two and a half day trip. 14 hours the first two days. 2 motel stops.
Dad drive the whole way with only stops for gas and mom enjoyed everyone of those. Us boys took advantage of Mr. Henry Ford’s design of under the rear seat placing a 9” hole above the rear differential so mechanics could work some bolts on the rear end. We would remove the seat do our business and Dad never slowed down.
Ah, for the good olde days!
