I got a Ruger SR9. It's only 1.27" wide and holds 17 in the magazine.

I really like it. One inch wide grip on the S&W seems like it would beat your hand up.

I like my SR9 too.
My first striker fire, a .40S&W Sigma was a value: good price, reliable but a terrible trigger.
The Ruger trigger is nice.
