I roast my own beans, and while it’s true you’ll get a better cup with a french press, you have to have the time for it. Personally, I’m just fine with a drip coffeemaker, but pretty much draw the line with letting it sit on a burner. It’ll keep better in a thermos-type carafe.
You French Press lovers have to try the AeroPress.

I am on a crusade for this neat little invention. I love good coffee, but am not great at picking out chocolate, berry, and other subtle flavors. This little machine makes those and other natural coffee flavors pop out. It is simply amazing.
My other coffee equipment is now lonely and jealous. They are like Woody when Buzz showed up.
