Not necessarily. I was bit by a cat that I was trying to help. The cat is now thriving with a friend and the rabies vaccinations are no big deal anymore, just three shots in the butt, several weeks apart. Hurts the wallet more.
Having taken lots of pre-bite and 3 after-bite series of rabies shots, I know that you better not take them in the butt. The vaccine can't get thru the fatty tissue and one guy I knew died of rabies by insisting they give them in the butt.
If there is a question , put the animal down to test the brain. I wouldn't trust quarantine.
