The problem is, the party that claims to support our values cannot produce a candidate worth voting for.

Many years ago, on the sitcom "Taxi," the drivers complained that the apples in the vending machine were rotten. They decided that if they bought and ate the rotten apples they would eventually get good apples. At the end of the show, they learned that the man who stocked the machine kept giving them rotten apples because they kept buying rotten apples.
