Jeremy Lin has lunch with ESPN editor fired for “chink in the armor” headline

Too early in the afternoon for a feelgood story of the day?

You know I like to be ahead of the curve, so let me put this out there now: The only thing standing between a Tebow/Lin ticket is about 12 years and that pesky "natural born" clause. (TT was born in the Philippines.) Second look at not asking about birth certificates?

A member of Lin's family reached out to Federico via e-mail more than a month ago, according to Federico. After several attempts to get Lin and Federico to meet were scuttled because of the Knicks point guard's very busy schedule, the meeting finally took place at a Manhattan restaurant and left Federico thankful for Lin's graciousness.

"The fact that he reached out to me," Federico said. “The fact that he took the time to meet with me in his insanely busy schedule . . . He's just a wonderful, humble person. He didn't have to do that, especially after everything had kind of died down for the most part.

“We talked more about matters of faith [and] reconciliation. We talked about our shared Christian values and what we’re both trying do with this situation . . . We didn’t talk about the headline for more than three minutes.”

Note that it was the Lins who made the first contact even though at the time the family was in the midst of coping with full-blown Linsanity. Add that admirable magnanimity to the pile of reasons why people root for Jeremy Lin.

Now that Tebow’s in New York, the first “Tim and Jeremy” buddy ad is a fait accompli. Exit question: They won’t both be back-ups by the time it comes out, will they?

I love the Knick’s ‘Fortune Rookie’! He seems like a good guy!

Tebow was born in the Phillipines to two native-born Americans temporarily out of the country.

He is most certainly a native-born citizen and is arguably a "natural-born" citizen.
