In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
catechize \KAT-i-kahyz\, verb
1. To question closely.
2. To instruct orally by means of questions and answers, especially in Christian doctrine.
3. To question with reference to belief.
Example sentences:
He sent her off when the dial made it five o'clock every fourth Sundayfor we had service only once a month, the parson having a church at Brampton, where he lived, and another as well, which made it the more wicked of us to play truantbut whether she got there early or late, or got there at all, he'd never ask, let alone catechize her about the sermon.
-- Mary Webb, Precious Bane
Aunt Bessie tried to catechize her about Erik's disappearance, and it was Kennicott who silenced the woman
-- Sinclair Lewis, Main Street
Etymology:
Catechize stems from the Greek word katēchízein meaning "to teach orally." It was first used in the sense of "to question" by Shakespeare in Othello.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

No way to tell what my coworkers views on the constitution are, it really doesn’t come up in our work which is mainly regulatory.
George HW Bush and Barbara endorsing Mitt on Fox......he looks so old and fragile. Barbara looks better.
A starving artist, huh? Whenever we would go to a starving artists’ show with really bad stuff, my first husband would always remark that a lot of artists deserved to starve...
Able bodied need to find respectable work. Only earth watching jag offs in falls church could be charmed by homeless artist. Lots of them on the left bank back in the day, I think they slept with other artists for room and board.
I actually know a couple of women like that-one of them still sells her paintings on the sidewalk in front of an antique shop in one of the tourist traps just outside Kerrville-she’s been flitting around the area for the last 35 years at least, latching onto men for support. She shares a bed sometimes with the (married) owner of the antique shop, who is also an old hippie earthwatcher type-or at least she did when I last saw her about a year ago. Some things never change...
Did her sign at least use the right color, line, value, shape and form to contain at least 5 elements of art?
Wouldn’t a big fan of Thomas know what he looks like?
