I often think that the Constitution, regarding presidential qualifications, should be amended to include at least (2) years military service. I agree that civilians should rule, but the CIC should have more personal military understanding if he is going to send our boys and girls into harm's way. Without military service, no one will ever understand.
From the lowliest sailor to the air force mechanic to the army mech to the army grunt/artillery to the Marines to the Spec Ops (SEALS, Delta Force, Marine Recon, Air Force ground air combatants), all have served in one way or another. That includes REMF's. Sorry combatants, but they sacrifice in their small way, also.
Obama is briefed by his Joint Chiefs of Staff on whatever time-table he insists, but I doubt the briefing is from bottom-up. Political expediency dictates it be from a political perspective from generals and admirals down.

With the current military policies, any qualified candidate would have a keen insight into unemployment and no health care as well.
