The problem with a rare breed is finding other dogs to make points. I know, since I had one.

And if you show in Canada yeah, but then you get a Canadian CH. Not an American CH (which, sorry, my Canadian FRiends, the American CH has more cache...)

I’ve known a few people who could not let it go and did *drag* dogs around forever to finish them. Usually it’s an owner with ONE dog and they just really loved that dog and thought it deserved the title. Well, who am I to say they shouldn’t? Personally, I don’t want to spend a gazillion dollars on it. It’s why I’ve been doing this a long time and don’t have a million of those dime a dozen CHs. And I don’t keep them out to get SDHF points after they finish or send them to Westminster or Eukanuba etc.
But I don’t begrudge the people who do. In fact, they spend money and keep the economy humming.
And btw, unhappy dogs don’t win. I know, I’ve had a few who hated to show. And so, they were not shown. They became happy pets.

Redji was deeply unhappy and shown anyway, for 10 years until she finally ‘hit it’.

Her owner was a seriously disturbed woman who cared nothing for her dogs; only for the fame and glory they brought her.

She was a “warehouser” who “gave” dogs to people with the implication that they *might* be called upon to breed said dogs, should any of their show siblings strike it big.

I had *five* dogs from her.
When my Izzy’s sister hit the big time [Westminster] she started on me to breed Izzy.
Unlike her *many* other weaker warehouse victims, I told her to go pound sand.
Not only did my dog’s sister hit the Ibizan world like a storm, so did her puppies.
Unfortunately, the woman warehousing *her* let her out with 6 studs and she got pregnant.

The pups were sold to an unsuspecting stranger in CA as being ‘legit’ when in fact, the papers had been falsified to name one dog who was not, in fact, the father of ANY of those pups.
[it was a multiple sire litter]

In the aftermath, the poor nice woman she snookered had all those titles taken away.
[on the bright side, my dog’s sister got a wonderful home and was dearly loved instead of being crated 24/7 like before]

As an aside from, that warehouser went through a series of devastating health and personal issues and the *27* dogs kept there ended up in our rescue but the president of the breed club was “BFF” with the breeder and covered up her connection to those dogs, knowing full well she would not go fetch them back as is expected.

The warehouser was fined, thrown out of the AKC for life and suffered brutal humiliation because the -real- perp threatened her, should she ever open her mouth.

Though there may be sweetness and light in most of the show world, I have seen horrors beyond imagining.
