Fatal Addiction: Ted Bundy's Final Interview
Pure Intimacy ^ | 1/24/89 | Dr James Dobson

Posted on 03/21/2012 8:05:22 PM PDT by Linda Frances

Ted: I’m no social scientist, and I don’t pretend to believe what John Q. Citizen thinks about this, but I’ve lived in prison for a long time now, and I’ve met a lot of men who were motivated to commit violence. Without exception, every one of them was deeply involved in pornography - deeply consumed by the addiction. The F.B.I.’s own study on serial homicide shows that the most common interest among serial killers is pornographers. It’s true.

——It isn’t a victimless crime.——

That’s the central lie.

The anonymity of the internet now allows us to bypass this media-reinforced lie, and read the tales of family destruction written by the victims themselves.

Then why is TV full of ads?

You often see ads for “bad” porn on TV? I don’t, but I only have over OTA Broadcast TV. Perhaps cable TV is different.

Here is a site that might help you. It sounds like you have a good marriage outside of this problem. Don’t give up, he apparently is addiction and probably hates himself for not being able to stop, probably laughs about it and says it’s not a big deal, when he really is miserable. I’ll pray for you both. Something to think about, over 50% of men in this county have this problem. I think Hollywood has been slowly pushing us, including our kids, into this, always trying to go further and futher, not caring about the effects on people or children. They say turn off your tv...you can’t be with your kids 100% of the time. Ever see the move “Fireproof”? That is what part of the movie is about. It’s really good. Have tissues, it makes you cry.

Your right. There is strong evidence that porn is harmful.

I think you misinterpreted what I wrote. I said there was a strong negative correlation between the availability of porn, and rape and murder.

These crimes have plunged since Ted Bundy's day. You need to explain how porn causes violent crime when its increasing availability is associated with a decrease in rape and murder.

I’m not talking legal porn, but illegal. The violent...kind. To be honest, I don’t know what all is in the illegal porn, and I don’t want to know. We all know that porn is a b$g business. I can’t help wonder who controls these numbers and why after 1990’s they suddenly change. I found this on FR

thttp://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2658135/postshread :

Dobson was one of the 11 liberal and conservative members of the U.S. Attorney General’s 1986 Commission on Pornography. They couldn’t agree on anything, said Dobson, except when it came to the link of violence in pornography and violence against women and children. The vote was 11 to 0; everyone saw it.

Bundy said, “I’ve lived in prison for a long time now, and I’ve known a lot of men motivated to commit violence just like me, and without exception, everyone of them was deeply involved in pornography.”

The FBI’s own study on serial homicides shows that the most common interest among serial killers is pornography. Of the 36 convicted serial murderers who had killed multiple numbers of people, 29 of them, or 81 percent, listed pornography as their predominant interest, to the level of compulsion.

All porn is bad. There is no good porn.

Ask yourself why you are pretending that I said porn is advertized on TV when you know what my point really was.

If any of that were true, there should have been a dramatic increase in rape and murder to go along with the dramatic increase in porn availability. You're left to explain why that didn't happen.

thank you for your courage. don’t let them get you down. the’re looking for a fight with a straw man of their own making. no one wants to ban all porn and no one could ban *all* porn even if they wanted to.

certainly porn on the internet needs to be policed. kids need to be protected. there are pedophiles, violence, slavery and prostitution going on. there is also a terrorism angle.

you and i know that without the moral foundation, conservatism must fail. porn in all it’s forms is right there, eating away the foundation of our republic. there is no other option at this point as 100 years of evil needs to be reversed. i think i know what rick is doing and it’s going to rile them all. it’s a campaign like Lincoln ran. he’s going to talk to the immoral elites exactly like you and i would. he’s going to answer their gottcha questions with blunt honesty. he is not going to “finesse” anything as all the fearful republicans would advise.

he’s going to give them a much needed dose of un-varnished conservatism (the kind our founders would have no problem with).

and he’s going to lock in our support as conservatives. he is going to lead the conservative movement and see if he can make the republican elite follow.

i agree with his strategy. it’s the only way he can beat romney.

God bless you and advance Liberty in every small way we can.
fight tyranny. God will decide the outcome.

uh speaking as an engineer. you would be wise to remember that their are “lies, damn lies and then there are statistics.”

it would be incredibly hard to create an unflawed statistical correlation of the phenomena you are conflating.

He wasn’t endorsing anything. He just told Dr. Dobson what illegal porn did to him.

Without reading Bundy's mind, we have no way of knowing if Bundy even believed what he told Dobson, let alone if it was the correct reason. Bundy told Dobson what Dobson wanted to hear. He was a smart, manipulative monster who spent the years between his capture and his death telling conflicting stories and blaming everything but himself for his crimes.

Re: “.....stranger murders are extremely rare.....”

Yes, I agree.

My point was that in the era of Bundy, law enforcement often failed to connect multiple stranger murders to the same killer.

Today, every stranger murder of a woman, and every suspicious disappearance, is profiled immediately against similar crimes nationally.

And the local news media immediately alert the public to any “serial killer” evidence.

I really do believe that luck is the only way a modern serial killer can escape capture for more than a couple years.

Ah, an proponent of the "Bad porn made me evil" school of thought.

Tell me, is Michelangelo's David porn? I mean, he's naked. Doesn't that make it porn? If not, why not?

Are you saying that there is not a negative correlation between increasing availability of porn and decreased murder and rape?

i’m saying that *any* correlation (negative or postive) would be suspect because of difficulty and out right bias that riddle the basic methodology and misuse of statistics in so called “social science.” if i were going to site such a study, i’d have to be confident of the integrity of the person conducting the study and the effort and skill made to stratify the sample.

so how did the study sample the use of porn amongst confirmed rapists and/or murderers? by interview.

did the study just take an average over the whole country for crime and invent some number for “availablity of porn?”

what i’m saying is that most of social science is junk science. the people undertaking such studies are looking to confirm their own apriori conclusions.

That was the point. In the past he denied everything, then tried to say it was poor family life, then he was crazy, using every excuse he could. This interview he did not blame anyone or thing. He made it a point to say no one or nothing was to blame but himself. He knew this was his last day full day on earth. If he wanted to manipulate someone, why not everyone & let the media interview him, he could manipulate more people. He contacted Dr. Dobson, so he did not want to get headlines. In the interview he finally admitted everything and said only he was to blame. He was issuing a warning about what could happen when kids/lpeople get into soft porn then, violent porn. He said he was obsessed with it and how it controlled him. He said he knew he had little time to live and wanted to be fruitful with what he had left. I think he did so much damage and destruction in his life, he wanted to do one thing right, tell the truth finally.
