You nailed it. “emotional neediness” is the weakness that I’ve always felt from Newt. As a regular local politician, teacher, etc., that wouldn’t bother me too much, it is still a weakness that has tarnished his past, and diminishes the trust factor. Don’t dislike him, and I believe in redemption, but that still doesn’t make Newt POTUS material.
I am sure newt’s a wonderful catholic, but redemption doesn’t necessarily remove a person’s personality flaws. Otherwise everyone is church would be delightful. This non statesmanship of staying in and helping Rick slowly amass delegates at a greater amount than Santorum demonstrates the deep neediness that defines newt’s priority : attention and glory for himself. I’m sorry he carries this flaw because he is so bright. But it is what it is.
