That's funny. Here's a sample of California beach sand I collected on a public beach off the end of an LAX runway on or around Oct 1, 1987, the day of the Whittier Narrows quake, which of course I experienced. The sample bottle was found in situ. I fetched it from the basement for the occasion of this thread.
