1. Cadillac Escalade This full-size luxury SUV remains the King of Bling, best known for being the ride of choice among hip-hoppers, slam-dunkers and wise guys. Unfortunately, under objective evaluation its appeal is little more than skin deep. Consumer Reports slams the Escalade for its poor braking, handling and fuel economy, and its too-tiny third-row seat. It gets CR's “worst” marks for low reliability and high ownership costs, and is cited for being a poor value, performing inadequately in accident-avoidance tests and for having the worst fuel economy in its class (at 13/21 mpg city/highway).

I remember those radical choppers back in the 70’s. Some of them took a city block to make a turn.

I have a 99 Durango with a 5.4 L. Love it except for 13 miles per gallon. But that’s my choice.

I always wanted a Cagiva Elephant.

I have been out of bike riding for ages
I love the notion that you can build a rig thats great on the street as well as off road, but its just not really doable, the and this notion of making Trucks/sportscars/ soccer Mom cars one, is laughable to be.

Has anyone you know ever been interviewed by CR about a product? I didn’t think so.

You know whats awesome? is when the rear wheel glides one way and you have the front wheel pointed the other way, and its all about weight distribution and the engine and brakes responding.

shit and git

To the original poster: if you’re going to post an article that contains a list, why not simply post the list?
1. Cadillac Escalade
2. Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon
3. Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon
4. Dodge Avenger
5. Dodge RAM 2500 diesel
6. Jeep Compass
7. Jeep Liberty
8. Jeep Wranger Unlimited
9. Smart ForTwo
10. Toyota FJ Crusier

Surprised that Toyota “made the list”. I’ve got an ‘05 RAV4 that’s been the best-running car I’ve ever owned.

In the mid ‘70s they were caught criminally manipulating tests to deliberately defame two of Chrysler’s cars, and paid out a huge judgement.

While I'm sure that there are good folks that have been well served by a Dodge truck, we have farm work to do. Trucks have got to stand up to any field conditions and tow heavy, and sometimes unsteady, things like a 1,250 gallon tank of water or fertilizer.

Up until about 5 years ago, our area in NE Louisiana was Chevy truck territory almost exclusively. Almost every farmer has gone to Ford, we were one of the first. A few have purchased Ram trucks, which didn't last a year or two with ordinary farm use. Any guy that doesn't need a 'working' truck and doesn't want to spend the big bucks for a Ford, will buy a Chevy or Dodge and do fine.

We use F250 Crew Cab diesel trucks exclusively, and they have served us well. The oldest one is a 2003 and, when washed up, looks just like it did when we left the dealership. I drive an Excursion with the PowerStroke diesel, which is an SUV on the F250 chassis, and I hate to drive anything else.

Yup, that's what I'm thinking of, F250 with a PowerStroke diesel.
Always wish I had bought the Ram with a Cummins diesel, but that ain't going to happen now.
My brother in law has a F250 PowerStroke and is very happy with it at 150,000 miles.

I teach my little boys to point and laugh whenever they see a Smart car.

Why would you have to teach them something that comes naturally?

All GM or Chrysler. No Fords on the list.

That because the Ford’s are all in the Top 10 Best Cars for 2012!

I did not know that. I have always used them for buying consumer goods like TVs, appliances, etc. I also use CNET and read reviews online from Best Buy, etc.

I think they are a good source(like JD Power, Edmonds,KBB) of information when buying a used car because they actually poll their readers on problems with existing vehicles.

However, it is only their opinion and should be considered just like other information sources.

We have a 2010 Focus. Bought it for the wife after a bad experience with a Mexican built 2008 VW New Beetle convertible (8 warranty repairs in 18 months). Two years later, no problems with the Ford.

Car is pretty comfortable, too. Drove it on two business trips from Norfolk, one to Charleston and one to southern MD. Only complaint is that it needs a bigger armrest on the center console.

Lot better gas mileage than my Nissan Titan, but I can say that about my 69 VW beetle as well.
