Awesome!
To Krankor: Thanks for putting this whole page on FR. I went to many other links and heard people and songs I’ve never heard before. Now I know why I loved the 50’s.
Everyone has got to listen to Jackie Wilson doing “Lonely Teardrops”. One of the greatest songs and Cha-Cha’s of all time. I used to do a quick spin step in it that left a smoke trail. Still can do it at 67 but no one in the family can do the Cha Cha any more.
Another great Cha-Cha, Solomon Burke and “Cry to Me” (Dirty Dancing album).
And the other greatest Cha-Cha you should listen to is Sarah Vaugh’s “Broken Hearted Melody”. It will thrill you to your toes. What a voice and great music/orchestration to go with it.
Other great singers to hear are Ruth Brown, Lavern Baker, Big Joe Turner, and Ike Turner doing “Rocket 88”.
What a trip back in time. “Rock and Roll: It will never die!”
Oh shit! It’s 2012 and Obama is still in the White House. BUMMER! Where is Ike now that we need him?
