My Wife and I attended a session in the Salt Lake Temple last week.
The Church has BYU studies in Israel, but does not have a Missionary effort there. The Church does not Proselytize in Israel at this time.
Thank you. You’ve been more than gracious in yor replies. My appologies for playing the role of “prick”.
Sometimes people need to be “pricked”.
I could tell you were serious in your queries.
Better question:
Why do people clog up Free Republic with stupid posts instead of just doing a Google search?
Just a guess, because Google doesn't post back and ask them why they didn't check Bing?
a lot of LDS missionaries learn exotic languages and are very valuable in the military intelligence because of their knowledge of third world countries.
Yes, I have two friends who are norman who served with me.
Yes, I have two friends who are norman who served with me.
What, they were both named "Norman?"
So you knew two Mormon corpsmen named "Norman?"
Regards
Reference to a schtick by Bill Daley in the old "Bob Newhart Show."
Heck yes. I served with several in Special Forces. 19th Group has a bunch....
LOL! Ok, I deserved that! Yes, they were both Norman, and they both had a friend named Cliff and they hung out at Cheers!
I worked with a Mormon on an overseas assignment in the early 1970’s. He was very clear that he would not serve in a combat unit, but had no problem working with us in the intelligence community.
Did over 500 men of the Mormon Battalion join the US Army during the Mexican War? Also what is the longest forced infantry march in US Military history? Answer, the 2,000 mile march made by the Mormon Battalion from Iowa to San Diego. IIRC, there was no Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Jewish, or any other religion based unit then, or Since.
I find the implied premise of the OP rather stupid.
You’re right, I knew many Mormons in the AF, but I never met a Mormon chaplain.
I have no reason to doubt stories of Mormons serving well and honorably.
I also don't doubt the stories that no Romneys were among them, before or since.
Yes they serve. The one I knew was a real jerk. But then, if he had been a Baptist he would still have been a jerk. It was his nature.
At a National Cemetery near here there is a Mormon headstone with an angel tooting a horn.
The same can be said for any other religion and politicians of any, or no faith.
I would not urinate on Romney if he was on fire. But I get pretty tired of the Mormon bashing.
And no, I am not a Mormon.
Do mormons revere Isreal as the true residence of the Holy of Holies, or does the temple in SLC trump that? What does it mean to be a temple mormon anyway?

The ‘holy of holies’ is in SLC temple.
Mormons defeated the Nazis from all their service

Not even close. But Mormon relations with the Nazi’s is another thread...
Absolutely. I have a friend, who is Mormon, who is currently serving in England in the Air Force as a physician.
