Word For The Day, Tuesday, March 6, 2012
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
taradiddle [tar-uh-did-l]
-n, informal
1. a small lie; fib.
2. pretentious nonsense.
[17901800; origin uncertain]
Oh-good-so I don’t have to start a panic?
I just muted the idiot-in-chief. I suppose he is going to be putting his face out there every f’in day until November...
that is funny, and just WRONG to laugh but funny. i have to check for the Pittsburgh dad youtube, there was something yesterday about an episode on the PARKING CHAIR! my grandmother had people several doors down that pulled that trick and i LMAO to think that there would be an episode on that topic!
I’ve never been in such need of a parking chair, but I can understand the idea. I dare say it’s appropriate during snow emergencies.
Their explanation of the game is much tamer than the one we played as kids, where you punched the person next to you in the car and yelled Padiddle! Parents HATED the game.
What about Chinese fire drills?
Yes, that’s exactly it. You punch your brother or sister. Who hits the ceiling of the car?
Leatherface. Uck.
Those women are unnnatural, and doing heavy duty steroids, I’ll bet. I’ve been hiking and doing physical work for years, and I’m just a small boned ordinary woman-who in hell would want to look like one of those freaks?
The Greeks on Union street did it just in general not even for snow, just bc they wanted that spot in front of the HAHSE. and they put out one of the kitchen chairs not a beach chair!

Oh, no-not this s*** again-sorry for the double post...
We only punched for slug-big. Do I ahve to admit that my family, where I am one of the parents, still plays slug-bug? (aka punch-buggie)
Or so I'm told.
Yes, an old kitchen chair has the stability and durability for this task. Couldn’t trust some lightweight aluminum thing.
In most places, it is understood that you don’t take the place in front of someone’s house. Musta been pretty crowded.
In my neighborhood it is rare to have so many cars they do not fit in your own driveway. Only happens as your teens get cars and haven’t moved out. There is one notable exception....the kid next door, ie the 40yo+ son who lives alone in his parents house...the parents moved out, not him. He owns 3 vehicles and two dobermans who guard the front yard. Scary place. I watch him juggle his cars around. Walking idiot. Probably has the dogs to protect his stash, can’t figure out how he makes a living without one. Doesn’t seem to have a job. All 3 are junkers. DH and I keep our eyes on him. Always something.
Why would he put a bread bag over his tail pipe? We can’t figure it out, no one has the guts to ask him. LOL
Parking chairs are for people in neighborhoods that don’t have driveways. It’s all on-street parking and people claim “their” spot, though it’s all public property.
Maybe he’s had mice crawl into his engine and make a mess?
Oh, I get the chair thing, we just don’t have the problem here. As for the looser next door, I doubt that in this neighborhood. In the summer when he gets home, he opens the hood to cool off his engine. LMAO He’s lucky to have to brains cells to rub together. He makes frequent short trips off the hill, comes and goes all day. Gotta be selling.
Another annoying habit he has: he hits on young girls...has a firm reputation as the neighborhood perv. The rest of his family is normal and very nice. Always one in any family.
There was something about the customer I did a bid for this morning that made my nose itch-just something inconsistent in what she claimed to be versus what my radar was picking up. I ran her name and the one of her business through the service I subscribe to for that purpose, and sure enough-has recent arrests and probation for drugs and theft. She is as old as me, or close, and married-I wonder if her husband is bad news, too. S***, just what I needed-not that I need the work in such boom times...
All the same, I will say a rosary and light some St. Jude candles tonight, thanking God for my basic mistrust and caution-it always pays off.
