If it’s down to nutria or Burmese pythons, I think I’d take the mammal. And you could make warm hats from the pelts, if you’re not able to grow your own.

Just got an email saying Anoreth’s Breitbart t-shirt is on the way! Now she just has to arrive here to retrieve it, and also to buy her birthday handgun. (And get her tax return done ...)

We've done a Burmese python, two red-tailed boas, and a King snake, primarily during the years we were the 'lending library' for the reptile/amphibian studies merit badge. You're right. i'd rather have a nutria.

On the subject of nutrition, a displaced Cajun Ass't SM has eaten water moccasin and copperhead (and who hasn't eaten rattlesnake). He said water moccasin's a survival food. Apparently wasn't very tasty. Don't know about Burmese python, although I probably could have thinned the menagerie by inviting him over with a shopping bag.
