While the audience did not always approve of Archie’s biases

Archie was biased?

Nope, Meathead was bigoted.

His lazy son in law ate Archie's food, screwed his daughter, lived in his house, didn't contribute a dime and looked down his nose at Archie, both because of his politics as well as his working man's background.

You are absolutely correct on the Meathead. The writers wanted to portray Archie as the racist but they kept stumbling over themselves - and his frustrations were understandable - not hateful.

Strange how the characters developed in spite of the liberal producers/writers. Almost divine intervention.
