You are correct; but Shaken Baby Syndrome does its damage by the rapid acceleration/de-acelleration of a violent shake causing rotational injury to the retina and blood vessels of the brain. Broken bones and dislocated joints can certainly occur here...esp. in those genetically more vulnerable.
