I tend to agree. There is one thing that I see in this show as a glaring ommission. Of all the skills to obtain as a prepper (i.e. food preservation, shelter, security, communication, fire arms and so on), the one skill set that is missing or de-ephasized is leadership. That is, the skill set of bringing indiviuals into the fold as functioning members; establishing interdependency between desparate groups such as trade, reconnoitering, etc.; and implementing long term plans to rebuild and rejoin. For lack of a better phrase, don't shoot me, it is community organizing.
The abiltiy to shoot a pistol is worthy, but the ability to train a bunch of newcomers as a security team and place them accordingly is far more lasting and powerful.
So the "subterfuge" is really about inhibiting the role of leadership among preppers and such associations by making anyone who steps up to the plate look like "a right wing nut". Imagine if the preppers were truly organized and cohesive? The Libs would howl.
The libs would then label them a "militia".
