As for the above review, the 42 and 47 inch LG TV had similar comments, caveat emptor!
I’ll echo what some others have said.
First, determine the size of your viewing space and how far you sit from your TV set. Then go on line and find a webpage that tells you the optimal size TV you should get. If the set you get is too small, it won’t please you. If the set you get is too big for your space, it won’t look very good.
Then go to the stores and get an idea what brand looks best to you. They’re NOT all the same. Don’t buy anything. Go home and look up reviews of the models that interest you. Maybe that’ll help knock some of ‘em out of consideration, if they’ve gotten terrible reviews.
And, yes, go 1080p, for sure.
Oh, and keep that “brightness” button in mind. In the stores, virtually every set is always set on the extreme “BRIGHT!” setting. That’s not the way you’ll want to watch movies, so keep that in mind both before and after you buy the set.
