Being widely traveled, my observations have shown that there is no race more heavily racist, and biased, than the American Negro... With the Japanese coming in a close second.

my observations have shown that...

(gasp) How dare you make an observation and (gasp) speak your mind! AND, you used the word n-e-g-r-o!

Sorry, Chinese have no “White Guilt” in fact they have no guilt—so they see blacks in their own way—not our way. The Chinese have been victims of bad Emperors, Europeans, Japanese, Communist Social planing, etc... They have no feeling toward other groups.

I have yet to meet one Asian nationality that didn’t think of itself as the master race.

The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Indians, Thais, Malays, Vietnamese, Arabs all seem to have the same attitude. Even Cambodia and Burma, despite their 4th world status, have a master race attitude because their former civilizations were quite powerful.

If you thnk the Chineese dislike blacks, ya ought to discuss with normal everyday folks there what they think of the Japs.

The Russians, too.

Somewhere I read that, in the halls of the Kremlin we used to be referred to as the Main Adversary, but now we are New Africa.

Part of it might just be that they face no consequences in China when they say what they really think (on this particular subject, that is).

No kidding?

The nitwits who look to China for an end to racism in the world are in for a surprise!

China’s re-colonization of Africa reveals their attitude towards black people—they ignore local people and bring their own labor from China. This should be interesting to watch.

Your entire assertion is odd and questionable. But, having spent some time in both Cambodia and Burma, twice in the past decade, I can confidently describe that portion of your statement as simply delusional.

“they ignore local people and bring their own labor from China.”

I wonder why...

Stan should try to tell it to the Asian shopkeepers who had everything they owned burned to the ground in the Sharpton riots and during the LA riots. And then drop dead.

Thanks nickcarraway.

Isn’t that the blog site for a certain professor from Cambridge, who had a “beer summit” with obama?

How well did you speak the local languages? How close were your friendships?

Speaking of the Chinese, Korean, and Japanese - the only groups I have first hand knowledge of, I’d say the OP was right on target. Perhaps, WRT other groups, he painted with too broad a brush; I don’t know.

That said, they can be very polite to visitors, no matter their race. As long as the visitor doesn’t speak the local language they’ll never know....

I lived in Asia for ten years and have a master’s degree in Asian history.

How is that for delusional?

If you don’t understand the extreme nationalism of both the Burmese and Khmer people, then I doubt you have been to either countries, or you just have a superficial understanding of both countries.

Do you want me to give some texts you can read?

Maybe you can explain why Thailand and Cambodia have been waging a war over a temple called Preah Vihear?

Do you want to discuss the multiple invasions of Burma into Thailand over the centuries or current border politics or military policy?

We can also talk about economic nationalism, if you wish.

Or we can discuss cultural representations in the media.

Or we can have a discussion on news stories in the media.

But I have suspicion you have no idea what you are talking about.

The Lefts beating the drums of racial prejudice in the US has helped feed this attitude in other countries. They love to feed on the “we hate each other” stuff in the media.
At the same time, every culture has it’s own biases against particular groups.

By the way, I am sure that you went through Suvarnabhumi airport in Thailand before making you way to either Thailand and Cambodia.

I wonder if you saw all those pictures of the king and the yellow flags and Thai flags everywhere?

Or do you have any understanding of the great yellow and red divide in that country?

A lot of that has to do with extreme nationalist politics or were you just admiring the pretty colors?

Since you claim to be an expert on Cambodia, what is the symbol on the Cambodian flag?

Do you understand why Burma is isolated from the rest of the world? Do you think the Burmese junta did it just for fun?

Do you think the Burmese moved their capital from Rangoon just for heck of it?

Eugene Robinson is an idiot. He is also a racist. But I repeat myself.
