The $395,414 Santorum brought in from his relationship with Universal Health is his biggest post-Congress monetary gain, other than his employment contracts, according to the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington.
Fellow board member Tony Pantaleoni, a lawyer, said Santorum had a prior relationship with Alan Miller, Universal Health’s chief executive, and that he “came with a lot of knowledge about the health industry,” including regulatory issues in Washington.

In the years before he lost his Pennsylvania Senate seat in 2006, Rick Santorum worked hard to win hundreds of millions of dollars in additional Medicare money for hospitals in Puerto Rico.

He sponsored at least two Senate bills and pushed to amend a mammoth Medicare overhaul to include the extra spending, which would have benefited Universal Health Services, a Pennsylvania-based hospital management company with facilities in Puerto Rico. If it seems at odds with the small-government philosophy Mr. Santorum now espouses in his presidential campaign, it was in line with his legislative efforts to help businesses in his state.
And some of those businesses were happy to return the favor.
Within months of leaving the Senate, Mr. Santorum joined the board of Universal Health Services, where he collected $395,000 in director’s fees and stock options before resigning last year. He also became a consultant to Consol Energy, after years of advocating drilling and extraction policies helpful to the company, a Pennsylvania gas and coal producer. And he consulted for the American Continental Group, a lobbying firm whose clients won earmarks he sponsored.

And don’t forget his push to have the weather bureau no longer give information directly to the public when there was a private company willing to SELL it to them.

Thank you!! The first I heard of this and this is info Barry, Mitt and RP have and it was NEVER brought up. That’s because the timing is not right. Yet those national TV debate attacks on Newt being a consultant to fannie are still being used here by rick’s supporters even though they never listened to him and Newt only ended up w/38k. And Mitt profited big time from fannie in his stock portfolio.

Rick’s supporters don’t give a flip about ALL THE BAGGAGE Rick has - an example of his baggage are provided in your links. Every vote for him is one less for Newt - who is THE THREAT to Mitt and the GOP E. He/GOP E have been busy designing and implementing/getting backers for their scheme/plan since ‘08 and some voters are so clueless they think they are outsmarting them by supporting Rick as an anti-romney candidate. And it was all designed to appear that way and the knuckleheads are falling for it.

He will not get the nomination because Mitt/media are procrastinating the opening of Rick’s trunk until he’s sure Newt doesn’t have a chance - and he then the trunk gets open on his sidekick since his mission will be accomplished.

It’s just another one of those Rick taking it for the TEAM. Unfortunately, the TEAM is never AMERICA. His team is the GOP E. Party before country which is his mo. Traitors, nothing patriotic about them.
