Writers have imagery in their heads which is undoubtedly a composite of images seen in life. Rick has been on the public stage long enough to inveigle the minds of those who have a composite image of a —to Hollywood types— wimpy conservative dude. But of course Woody cannot be a wimp since Tom Hanks does his voice and Woody is the storybook hero.
