Great point IF you choose a short action "feather weight" rifle. In that case the .308 shines and is about equal to the .06.

If you have an economy long action rifle the .06 has some added versatility with the heavier bullets, 180 gr and up. Ammo is nearly as inexpensive for the .06.

So the main argument for the .308 is ammo price and that its almost as good as the 30-06.

I can see buying an M1A because you want one. I don’t think I’ll buy something because its almost as good as something else.
