Mine so far is limited to my $100 '38 Mosin babooshka, and she dropped white tail just fine on foot (iron sights) to the chagrin of stand-mounted (scoped) comrades.
At the range cycling the bolt action is actually quite fun!
all the guns i have ever owned long or short are autos(except my SS .22/.410 M6 Springfield Scout) so i picked up the Yugo for a change and have never regretted it
like you said cycling the bolt was a pleasant surprise
and that 8mm big bass boom when it goes off turns heads...
