“How is JFK a hero?

He got us into a disastrous fiasco in Cuba that got 5000 killed “

That’s too kind. He CAUSED the Bay of Pigs fiasco. CIA said from the beginning the invasion was doomed without air cover. Kennedy said, “I promise you will have air cover”. CIA did not trust Kennedy and the agent in charge called Kennedy when training was complete and they were preparing to launch and got same answer, “You WILL have air cover”. It wasn’t until they were on the beach and dying Kennedy told the desperate insurgents, “Sorry, it isn’t politically expedient to involve US aircraft”.

“All that while he was molesting TEENAGE girls in the Whitehouse...”

A real scumbag. He RAPED that girl basically. So she didn’t struggle. He was the most powerful man in the world and her boss.

Let’s not forget either that PT-109 was lost to gross incompetence. He may have acted heroically after it was lost but I suspect that story is also manufactured. PT-109 was the only PT boat lost due to collision with the enemy in WWII.

Some hero.

The Kennedy’s are all scum.

I’ve said it before, any time a Kennedy dies the country becomes a better place.

You forgot to include the fact that JFK changed the landing site from the City of Trinidad to the Bay of Pigs, dooming the plan even before the air cover was pulled:

I am as tired of the Kennedy hagiography as anyone, but none of his fellow PT commanders nor any serious historian was critical of Kennedy's tactics during the engagement in which PT-109 was lost. Running your engines at night in a PT boat causes bioilluminescence, which paints a great big target sign for any roaming Jap aircraft.

If you want to criticize anyone, why not the other PT commanders who failed to look for survivors after the collision, which was clearly indicated by flames from PT-109 and the loss of radio contact?

JFK's 'moment of heroism'... Losing his craft in what amounted to a 'traffic accident' with the very type of enemy vessel he was supposed to be on patrol to engage and destroy....
