Thanks. I think I made my first Tommy’s run as an SC freshman in late ‘66—by then he might have had napkins, but maybe not. I do remember the paper shortage later, though, when the napkins disappeared. And I well recall the separate coolers. It was a manly place!
Fellow Spartan, class of ‘64, well versed in Tommy’s and the
32nd street walk a mart right off frat row. I still marvel
that I made it through all that shit. Tommy’s was the great
escape when we didn’t know cholesterol existed.
I took my wife there a few year ago on one of our trips. Imagine maneuvering a 42’ diesel pusher motor home on those
streets. We double parked on Rampart a half a block away and
got lunch.... we still laugh about it.
