Yes, that trio was the best. But who can forget Alex Karras' comment over a closeup image of the steaming bald head of Oakland Raiders tackle Otis Sistrunk on the sidelines?

"Otis Sistrunk, University of Mars"

It was a good five minutes before the other two commentators could say a word, they were laughing so hard. Good times.

Totally agree. The few times I watch MNF anymore I mute the tv.

Yep.
I grew up watching MNF with those guys. That’s when Monday Night Football was special. In fact, it was from the mouth of Howard Cosell in December 1980 that I learned of the murder of John Lennon. Me and a buddy were having beers at a mostly empty local bar while watching MNF, and then comes Howard with the news. “Tragedy in New York City...” Nobody cared about the football game anymore.
