Musing on Internet Shock
Me | 2 /14/2012 | DGHoodini

Between online banking, Online shopping, credit card payments, e- mail, cell phones and texting...it's been so long since I've actually sent *anything* "snail mail", that I literally had to check online to find out that the postal rate for a letter has gone up twice since the last time I sent a letter USPS. Fortunately I has a roll of 1 cebt stamps to cover the increase without having to go to the post office, but it still felt weird.

The USPS has been selling "forever" stamps for first class mail since April, 2007. All first class stamps sold by the USPS have been "forever" stamps since the beginning of 2011.

There hasn't been any reason to buy 1-cent stamps to make up a postage increase for about 5 years, unless you didn't bother to buy the "forever" stamps.

The only stamps I had were 42 cent stamps and a roll of 1 cent stamps. I checked online, and it said that a first class letter these days is now 45 cents. No “forever” stamps in the drawer
