The news comes months after Fox and producer Seth MacFarlane announced they would be reviving Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey, a 1980s miniseries from Carl Sagan.

I thought he already did that.

"Science fiction is a powerful format capable of visualizing the human condition in thought-provoking ways,"

You'd think if it were such a "powerful format" they could come up with something NEW, for heavens' sake.

Space: 1999 and Cosmos were two of my favorite series when I was a kid. I would have liked an Airwolf revival, but the failure of Knight Rider put that in the ground.

My expectations on this are very high. They will need more than flashy space scenes. Space:1999 will have to do at least as good as Battlestar Galactica on SyFy.

I was never much of a Space 1999 fan.

However, given the glacial progress of our space program, they had better change the name to Space 2999, if they want to show something beyond low Earth orbit.

Didn’t the Space 1999 people shoot down the same UFO special effect in every episode?

Isn't that the purpose of porn?

Oh, goodie!

Then at least hopefully the US will have a manned space program again...

At least a make-believe one on TV...
