Just another example of “manufactured to be collectible”. True collectibles become so over time, they are not created for the purpose of being collectible. I used to do business with a man who had a room in his house set aside for Barbie dolls. He was convinced that he was going to retire from the profits. Then one day he got very angry when he learned that the “limited editions” were being brought out again. Some things like the commemorative firearms may have some actual appreciation but something like a Beanie Baby has no real value, an actual working firearm with a dedication to Elvis or John Wayne does.
