Truman was a active co-conspirator in the crooked Penderast machine, not any kind of honest man. He should have gone to prison with Pendergast.

My dad use to talk about the Pendergast machine and Truman, but also said Truman turned out to be a decent president. Dad was a republican.....As VP he was kept in the dark by Roosevelt on the war, so when he took over the presidency he had a lot of information to be learned...I don't think Roosevelt liked Truman,

From the little I remember with the MacAuthor situation, he directly disobeyed the CIC and dissed him in speeches....Truman made a point of saying your not insulting Truman, your insulting and disobeying the President of the United States....lot of people didn't like when he recalled MacArthur, due to WW2 he was quite popular..
