I think they are a perfect match...if he hadn’t given the Giants 2 pts at the beginning, they could’ve have gone for a field goal and won instead of throwing Hail Marys...it’s on your precious Tom, Gisele....
A field goal would have only tied. Without the extra two points for the early safety, NY would have just kicked the point after and gone up by three near the end of the game.
I don’t see how you can blame him for that. He wasn’t throwing the ball away, the receiver just cut off the route and went back to the outside at about the same time he was throwing the ball.
I’ve never seen officials call that before. And I’ve seen many times where a quarterback can’t step up because of pressure, tries to throw the pass long downfield anyway, and the ball comes up 20 yards short of any receiver. Meaning it doesn’t get within 15 yards of a receiver, which should mean intentional grounding by the literal interpretation.
That was the first time I’ve heard of a ‘safety’.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in a game before.
