My wife didn’t understand that play and I explained it was a gamble. Do you kick a FG with 20 seconds on the clock for Brady to get to the other side FG range, or take the TD and give Brady 57 seconds to make a TD? I don’t know how I would have called it. Brady is dangerous either way.
Those weren't the only options, and the Giants really didn't want to score a TD on that play. That's what made the play memorable.
I agree that Brady is a skilled player, and the PATs offense is excellent. The odds say to deny them time. But by landing in the endzone, on his butt, with no defense preventing the TD, the Giants gave the Patriots what they didn't want to give - time.
Very memorable play - I was laughing when it happened, and it makes me chuckle now.
