I loved it! Of course, I dated one of the UWP girls intermittently that year and watched Up With People perform with her, so I may be biased.

I did a parade in Atlanta, and Up with People were on the float right behind us. We thought they were pretty obnoxious, mainly because Up with People people are more or less the opposite of Drum & Bugle Corps people.

That Super Bowl halftime show was far superior than any of them that I have seen over the last couple decades or so.

I have watched every Super Bowl and I do I remember SB X. The first really great contest in the SB, lots of scoring, lots of great plays... lots of drama all the way to the last seconds... and my Steelers won for their second Lombardi trophy. But the halftime show?????.

I have been proudly ignoring SB half-time shows for XLVI years.

Knew a really talented schoolmate who was picked to join Up With People. She was told she needed to come up with around $3000. A good amount of money for the late 70s. She passed on it.

Any bad show from a group of performers I name “Throw Up With People.”
