Thanks very much, Meg! Sorry I've been so scarce the last few days - just started on a new project at work and they've chained us to the desks. Heavy deadline coming up Monday, and then probably overtime in the next several weeks.
Glendalough is an ancient site in Ireland. Among its adornments are a ring fort dated to the first century A.D., one of the highest round towers in Ireland, and a plethora of ruins dating from from the mid-seventh century.
Glendalough was an early monastic center and therefore a beacon of light in the so-called "Dark Ages."
It is also a place of great beauty. I believe, although I cannot prove, that some of the scenes in the movie "Excalibur" were shot at Glendalough - like the scene where Merlin first first sees the sword emerge from the Lake.
Regardless, Glendalough is a beautiful place in Ireland. I have some slides of Glendalough from my trip to Ireland. I will try to scan them onto my computer in the very near future.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps pacem!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
I've thought before about sailing to Ireland...I live on a boat...but I wonder where there's a good anchorage for a small boat while I visit. I've tried researching it on the net, but that mostly directs me to the more major ports when I'd like a little nook somewhere. If anyone thinks they know such a place, shoot me a line, I'd appreciate it...
If it's anywhere near the town they filmed "The Quiet Man" in...bonus!
