I once tended to a dog that had been run over and then shot twice in the head. First bullet went between the mandibular bones and exited the mouth, missing the tongue. The second bullet went through the lateral canthus of the eye and exited just above the ramus. The owners, knowing they had botched the euthanasia, then called me and asked me to save the dog. She did fine. There was a little ataxia (staggering) because of the concussion from the auto and both bullet wounds took about five sutures total.
IMO the odds of a person botching a suicide are pretty good.
It wasn’t that dogs time to die.
I can see how this might happen. I wonder which shots were from the .380 and which were from the .40 cal?
