Care to explain how someone makes a living being an activist?

Oh, just look at the White Hut.

See para 5 in the story.

Lenny was held in high esteem by many in Alexandria.

His disappearance WAS a mystery.

If you really are curious, I can give you one other career path that I know of. One of my roommates from law school decided he wanted to be an activist, so he went to work for Ralph Nader. He would do all sorts of things, and few of them related to law, like if there were a demonstration against nuclear power, for example, he might have to arrange for the leasing and delivery of the portable toilets, or coordinate lodging for out-of-towners. Later, he got Nader to subsidize a cross country bus trip where he would picket and harass car dealers, for something or other, I don't recall exactly what. He did that for years. When he completely ran out of money, he ran as a democrat for congress from some district in PA that never went democratic, and mirable dictu almost won. That lead to a job in the PA legislature where he is now. Untill he got the job with the legislature he never had health insurance, and barely made enough to eat.
